| Definition, Explanation |
Salaries paid to board members and managers are a popular topic in public discussion, also against the background of job losses and value destruction of companies. In the act of law “Vorstandsvergütungsoffenlegungsgesetz”, VorstOG, the German legislator ascertains disclosure of individual board members’ salaries. These are part of the German Corporate Governance Kodex, GCGC, which consists mainly of recommendations regarding what good corporate governance is. In the media, managers’ salaries are widely discussed: What do managers really earn, what should they earn, what is considered justified and fair, what do they think about their income themselves, what does comparison among countries reveal.
